Sunday school

Sunday morning school consists of gathering children generally in several groups according to the age groups where they are taught the word of God. It takes place on Sunday morning before the sermon as recommended by the prophet William Marrion Branham, the prophet whom God sent to us in this age.

“…Have Sunday school before the preaching service. This then gives the opportunity for the little ones in the Sunday school to attend their classes, and to leave. And--and if they want to... Little children don't understand; and if they had to sit all the way through the sermon, and then go to Sunday school, them little ones would be weary. Let Sunday school be done first. Set a time; that at the appointed time, Sunday school begins. The Sunday school overseer has to see to that, that the Sunday school starts on time, at the appointed time, and ends on time. Sunday school has so much time allotted to it, then it has to end. »

The Order of the Church Preached December 26, 1963, Paragraph 63

How is Sunday morning school organized?

68 “You should place your classes… For example, a class for toddlers, who want to have “flanellographs”, may not be suitable for a fourteen year old boy or girl. Do you see? You ought to have somebody that's got a class for them little babies, an old mother, or somebody that knows how to take care of them. For the other classes, I think you need someone who is better able to bring the Word. Do you see? There should be classes, say, for example, a class for those of… well, at least three classes.

69 There ought to be a little bitty baby class, there ought to be--from about five years old. And all others below that age should stay with their mothers, and should, if necessary, be taken to the nursery during the sermon, if they start making noise. This is what the nursery is for. »

The constitution of the staff in charge of the Sunday morning school

73 It is up to you to select them. But I'll take... For babies, I'll take an old woman that's able to do that. But, for teenagers, I would choose a monitor who is strict, and not always having sausage-roasting picnics. That's all right if they want to have a sausage-roasting picnic, but when it's all about that... Focus it on the Word! Let it be somebody that's able to handle the Word. And it'll be... This church represents, not a... Sausage roast picnics is all right, and--and little picnics where you go together to fellowship, that's fine. This is what you should be doing to entertain children. But in this place it's the Word of God. Roast sausage picnics is when you find yourself, or something like that, but not here in the house of God. And these... We know, of course, we know that we don't believe in all that nonsense here, and social meetings, and all those things. We—we... You got more sense than that. So just before... During the—the lesson, the Sunday school superintendent is to come by and pick up the offerings that's been made, the Sunday school collections, and make a report of the number of people present, and how many Bibles there was in that class, and so forth, and write a report on it. He must then come before the audience just before the sermon, when he is called upon, at the time of the Sunday school report, after the Sunday school is over, and say how many teachers there were, how many was present, how many... the total of Sunday school, the total amount of offerings, and so forth. Deacons, trustees, pastors, are not supposed to do that. They have nothing to do with it. This is the job of the Sunday School superintendent.

76 And then if he sees that the Sunday school needs certain things, then he has to submit it to the—to the board of trustees. The trustees will first have a meeting about it, then if the trustees see that there are enough funds and so on (through the treasurer), then the purchase can be made. If he wants anything, literature, or whatever it is, or Bibles; or if they want to buy a Bible from whoever, you know, can find the most words and quote the most scriptures, or if there's a prize, or something like that, they are going to bestow, and want to buy it through the church, then let it be presented to the—to the—the—the deacons. Then, let them inquire to find out
